The 24-year-old is already the ninth most capped Black Ferns player ever.
Her consistency in 2022 earned a nomination for World Rugby’s 15s Breakthrough Player of the Year and a year later she became the youngest player to captain the Black Ferns against the United States in Ottawa.
Black Ferns head coach Whitney Hansen explained that Roos’ impact goes far beyond the field.
“Maia is someone who consistently puts the team first and leads from the front through her actions. She has stamped her mark as a prominent figure within the Black Ferns tight-five make-up, through consistent dominant performances,” Hansen said.
“She has achieved a lot at a young age, and I’m excited about what’s ahead for her as she has the qualities to become a Black Fern whose influence reaches far beyond the field, with the ability to connect and uplift our environment and more widely her community.”
In recent weeks, midfielder Amy du Plessis, loose forward Kaipo Olse-Baker and Braxton Sorensen-McGee have also re-signed.
The Black Ferns return to the field in August against the Wallaroos and have eight tests for the rest of the year.
