A man has been arrested after allegedly fleeing in a car from police across several Auckland suburbs, hitting several other vehicles in the process.
The Police Eagle helicopter spotted a Subaru linked to a man being sought by police travelling through Mt Roskill just after 4pm.
Senior Sergeant Michael Wickmansaid police continued to track the vehicle as it drove towards Mt Wellington.
“Police have attempted to engage with the vehicle, but the driver has driven off and begun driving in an erratic manner toward the Southern Motorway.”
After getting off the motorway, the driver continued in the direction of Newmarket’s Market Rd, driving dangerously northbound through evening traffic.
“On several occasions, the vehicle has been observed on the wrong side of the road and narrowly missing other vehicles and pedestrians,” Wickman said.

“The appalling behaviour continued on to the North-Western Motorway, where the Subaru has been involved in minor collisions with several vehicles on the Newton Rd on-ramp.”
Having been damaged by these collisions, the vehicle was finally brought to a stop after exiting the motorway at Te Atatū Rd.
